Steine-Erden-Mining and Environment Foundation Award

The Steine-Erden-Bergbau und Umwelt Foundation’s Sponsorship Award honors outstanding scientific work as well as exceptional achievements every two years in the field of economically viable and environmentally compatible raw material supply with stones and earth, as well as sustainable environmental protection. Individuals, non-profit organizations, and public institutions from all over Germany are eligible to submit contributions in the thematic areas of Research & Innovation, Science, Environmental/Nature Conservation, and Energy Efficiency & Climate Protection. For each award category, €2,500 is available to support the continuation of innovative projects and to ensure recognition of committed research initiatives. Target groups include students, doctoral candidates, and scientists as well as representatives of non-profit environmental associations, private consultants, or authorities engaged with issues related to stone and earth mining and environmental protection.

The call for proposals requires the submission of scientific papers presenting solutions for sustainable raw material extraction and environmentally appropriate land use. An expert jury conducts a multi-stage selection process to identify award-worthy contributions and highlight their societal impact. The ceremonial award presentation takes place within the framework of a prestigious event and is accompanied by specialist press as well as regional and national media. The Sponsorship Award offers the winners the opportunity to present their concepts to a broad professional audience and to establish new networks in the fields of raw material economy and environmental management.
