Description
The Vera Gerdau Foundation’s funding award annually honors outstanding projects that strengthen the social participation of disadvantaged children and adolescents. Recognized are initiatives that specifically support young people with physical or psychological special needs as well as those with refugee and migration backgrounds. The award is granted nationwide and is intended as a special recognition for effective approaches that promote integration, inclusion, and democratic coexistence. Eligible to apply are non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, as well as committed private individuals. Proposals and applications can be submitted by April 30 of each calendar year, with the decision on the award made by the board in summer.
For submission, a meaningful project description as well as explanatory attachments such as web links or photographs are expected. Evaluation focuses particularly on the sustainable impact on the living conditions of disadvantaged youth and – optionally – the degree of innovation in the areas of nature, animal, and environmental experience. The Vera Gerdau Foundation values diverse, future-oriented concepts that open new perspectives for young people. The funding award targets projects that not only provide short-term support but also enable long-term social participation and strengthen democracy. Committed actors who pursue creative paths of integration find in this award a worthy platform for recognition and further impetus.
