Description
The funding award "Catalogs for Young Artists" from the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation supports outstanding emerging artists in Germany with their first major institutional exhibition. On a biennial basis, three exhibition catalogs along with their corresponding presentations are financially supported each time. The aim is to enable innovative exhibition concepts and the publication of high-quality catalogs that appropriately document the creative work of artists no older than 35 years. Only public or non-profit exhibition organizers are eligible to apply. The next call for applications is expected in spring 2027. With a funding rate of up to 75%, personnel costs, material costs, and production costs of the catalog are covered, with the total funding amount capped at €40,000.
The selection is based on the innovativeness of the exhibition concept and the design as well as the content quality of the catalog. Applications must include, among other things, a fully completed online application, concepts for the exhibition and catalog, detailed cost calculations, a short biography of the artist, and a visual documentation of the works. Collaborative projects by artist groups may be funded in exceptional cases, whereas student or collective exhibitions are excluded. The public impact and sustainability of the funded publications are further strengthened by distributing exclusive copies to international networks. The jury process is confidential, and no information is provided regarding the reasons for decisions. Thus, the award offers a forward-looking platform for young talents and institutional organizers to comprehensively present and support artistic positions.
