Description

The German Foundation for Sick Newborns, together with the German Hypothermia Registry, is awarding the "Perinatal Asphyxia Research" grant for the first time, amounting to €4,000. Outstanding clinical-scientific projects, educational initiatives, and patient-oriented parent projects that address practical aspects of diagnostics, therapy, or healthcare research related to perinatal asphyxia and therapeutic hypothermia will be recognized. The award aims to promote interdisciplinary research approaches, increase the visibility of care concepts, and provide new impulses in the research focus on perinatal asphyxia. An independent jury of experts from the DSKN, the German Hypothermia Registry, and external specialists will select the awardees.

Eligible to participate are physicians, scientists, nurses, and psychologists from Germany who submit innovative project ideas as individuals or interdisciplinary teams. Evaluation criteria include the level of innovation, direct practical relevance, and interdisciplinary approach. Applications must include a project idea/project outline (max. 2 pages), a summary (max. 1 page), a CV with relevant references, and optionally a letter of recommendation. The submission deadline is 28.02.2026. The prize money may be used as seed funding for studies, educational offerings, or parent projects to sustainably advance research and care in the field of perinatal asphyxia.
