Description

The creative competition project "Suicide is Not the Solution!" by the Telefonseelsorge Berlin Foundation is aimed at adolescents and young adults in Berlin who wish to engage creatively with the complex topic of suicide prevention. In the fifth round of the competition, an innovative space is opened where creative forms of expression – ranging from visual arts to film and literature – are used to raise awareness of psychological distress while simultaneously highlighting avenues of support. Through funding as a grant, the foundation supports individual ideas from participants committed to the mental health of young people and eager to contribute their own perspectives. The competition combines social responsibility with artistic initiative, thereby making a visible statement against isolation and despair among peers.

The focus is on embedding preventive measures within the everyday lives of young people and raising their awareness of the issue of suicide. The initiative explicitly promotes inclusive projects in the fields of health, children and youth, as well as labor and social affairs. Eligible applicants include private individuals who have the opportunity to submit creative contributions that inspire courage and stimulate discussion. Through intensive engagement with the causes and consequences of suicide, a valuable platform for exchange and education is created. Professionals from counseling and crisis intervention provide advisory support throughout the competition, lending additional expert depth to the submissions. In doing so, the program makes a sustainable contribution to suicide prevention and strengthens the solidarity among young people in the region.
