Funding Projects of the Hanover State Opera Foundation

The Staatsoper Hannover Foundation enables financial support for innovative initiatives in the fields of opera, ballet, and music theater in Lower Saxony. As an ongoing sponsorship program, it is aimed at private individuals, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions wishing to realize exceptional projects at the Staatsoper. Funding is provided for, among other things, new productions, composition commissions such as for children’s or chamber operas, as well as special concerts and gala evenings. A particular focus lies on cultural participation for disadvantaged children and youth: whether opera visits or participatory projects – the foundation contributes to fostering enthusiasm for music and the performing arts at an early stage and embedding it sustainably.

With the goal of strengthening the regional and supra-regional presence of the Staatsoper Hannover, the program supports both major artistic productions and training-related and social initiatives in the areas of culture, music, education & media, as well as work & social affairs. Applications can be submitted throughout the year, enabling both short-term realizations and long-term planning. The funding addresses project leaders and experts who develop visionary concepts for the stage and talent development. Through its broad thematic spectrum, a vibrant platform is created that links artistic excellence with social commitment and sustainably advances opera culture.
