Description

The FöRilVuSt2023 of the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) supports nationwide projects and measures aimed at significantly increasing traffic safety and reducing road traffic accidents. Funding is provided to public institutions as well as non-profit organizations that implement concepts, planning, and practical execution of safety-relevant initiatives in the fields of infrastructure and urban development. As a grant program, the guideline offers continuous application opportunities and is specifically targeted at municipalities, districts, and independent cities that wish to implement innovative accident prevention measures.

Eligibility for application requires a registered office or branch in Germany as well as proof of sovereign sponsorship or non-profit status. A detailed action plan including accident statistics and target descriptions forms the basis of the application. Eligible expenses include planning and engineering services, construction measures including the installation of safety devices, as well as consulting and training on traffic safety. Non-eligible costs include retroactive expenses, pure public relations without a safety focus, and vehicle acquisitions. Evaluation is based on effectiveness in accident reduction, cost-benefit ratio, and the reach of the funded measures. The application submission must include a well-founded project description, a cost and financing plan, as well as proof of non-profit status and previous accident statistics. Thanks to the ongoing procedure, interested parties can take the next step toward “Vision Zero” at any time and contribute to the sustainable improvement of traffic safety.
