In the funding year 2025, the Bürgerstiftung Hannover will focus its annual priority on strengthening democratic fundamental values and social cohesion in the Lower Saxony region. Non-profit organizations, interest groups, and associations can continuously submit applications for grants – there is no fixed deadline. Priority will be given to projects that demonstrably contribute to empowering individuals and strengthening their self-efficacy, initiating encounters between different population groups, and promoting participation in public life. The aim is to foster tolerance in the long term, reduce prejudices, and sustainably anchor democratic engagement locally.
Civil society initiatives that connect people and make democracy tangible will be supported. Project ideas in the fields of action such as commitment to social cohesion, democracy, work, and social affairs have particularly good chances if their impact on democratic education and participation is clearly evident. The Bürgerstiftung Hannover continuously reviews all submitted applications, thereby supporting flexible project implementations without a predetermined call for proposals. A prerequisite for funding is a clear impact in terms of a vibrant democracy as well as verifiable measures to promote participation and communication.
