Description

The LWL Cultural Foundation is launching a funding program for the 2028 thematic year that supports interdisciplinary cultural projects with a focus on Artificial Intelligence in Westphalia-Lippe. Non-profit organizations, foundations, associations, interest groups, as well as public institutions from the fields of visual arts, theater, dance, music, film, literature, regional studies, museums, and monument preservation may apply for full grant funding (up to 100% of eligible costs). Eligible expenses include personnel costs, material and travel expenses, as well as fees for freelance artists. Investment measures, construction or renovation projects, acquisitions, pure publication projects, institutional funding, and scholarships are excluded. The first submission deadline is August 31, 2026, the second deadline is February 28, 2027, each until 11:59 p.m.

A prerequisite for application is a verifiable seat or project implementation in Westphalia-Lippe as well as proof of non-profit status (e.g., association, non-profit GmbH, foundation). A project must have a clear connection to culture and Artificial Intelligence and be characterized by regional added value, network character, and public impact. The application documents include the official application form, a detailed cost and financing plan, a meaningful project description, a schedule, and proof of non-profit status. The decision is made by the board twice a year after reviewing all criteria. With this initiative, the foundation sets impulses for the reflective use of AI in cultural practice and promotes forward-looking projects that combine technological innovation and artistic design.
