Description
The Hermann Reemtsma Foundation annually supports 40–50 non-profit projects in the fields of culture, social affairs, monument preservation, and engagement for social cohesion in Northern and Eastern Germany. With a funding volume of four to six million euros, it provides institutions, initiatives, and individuals with flexible opportunities to preserve public monuments and cultural assets as well as to implement social services. Applications can be submitted continuously, allowing regional actors to access financial grants at any time. The foundation places great emphasis on the interplay of personal initiative, entrepreneurial thinking, and local expertise.
The focus of the funding lies on criteria such as the competence and motivation of the project partners as well as their contribution to strengthening social cohesion. Projects that support people in leading self-determined lives and provide cultural as well as social impulses are funded. Through sustainable aid for self-help, non-profit organizations and public institutions in Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein, and Thuringia are strengthened. The private, non-profit structure and the continuous awarding of grants enable long-term impact in the region. Interested initiatives and institutions can submit a funding application at any time and thus contribute to the preservation of cultural treasures and the promotion of social togetherness.
