Description
The Possehl Foundation supports monument and urban heritage preservation in Lübeck through the program "The Beautiful Image of the City." Private individuals, companies, non-profit organizations, public institutions, and foundations based in Schleswig-Holstein can apply for financial assistance in the form of grants for the restoration of historic building fabric, the preservation of inner-city churches, and the aesthetic enhancement of public squares. The aim of this initiative is to preserve the cultural heritage of the Hanseatic city, maintain Lübeck’s Seven Towers, and sustainably secure defining ensembles in the city center as well as in the wider urban area. Funded projects contribute to strengthening the monument-worthy cityscape and simultaneously serve local identity and quality of stay.
A prerequisite for funding is that the project location is in Lübeck and that there is a clear focus on monument protection or urban heritage maintenance. Applicants must submit their proposals via the Possehl Foundation’s funding portal and include the required documents – project description, cost and financing plan, photographic documentation, and site plan. Eligible expenses include restoration and conservation costs as well as planning costs. Selection criteria particularly consider the monument preservation worthiness, the urban development contribution, and the long-term viability of the restoration concept. The maximum funding amount is 10,000 euros. Applications can be submitted continuously but must be fully received in the portal at least three weeks before the respective meeting date of the working committee. This funding opportunity offers committed actors from Lübeck an attractive chance to strengthen the city’s historic appearance and preserve its architectural culture for future generations.
