Description

Promotion of Renovation in Styria
The Styrian state government supports owners or building rights holders in designated settlement areas with non-repayable grants for partial or complete renewal of existing buildings. Up to 30% of eligible costs per residential unit are granted as an annuity subsidy on bank loans, or 20% as a direct grant – with a maximum of €70,000. The goal is to replace existing buildings, whose building permits are at least 30 years old and which are not classified as worthy of preservation, through complete reconstruction or when the new construction exceeds 50% of the previous usable area. The program is open year-round and promotes, in addition to the creation of attractive and affordable housing, energy-efficient and climate-friendly new buildings according to the klimaaktiv Silver standard.

Eligibility Requirements and Procedure
Eligible applicants are private property owners and building rights holders whose project is located within a settlement focus area designated according to the Styrian Spatial Planning Act. A prerequisite is an expert report on the positive development of the residential environment by the Department of Building Technology and Design, an airtightness measurement for timber or lightweight constructions, thermographic inspection if applicable, as well as submission of an energy certificate according to OIB Guideline 6. Eligible costs include demolition and new construction costs, planning and expert fees, as well as energy consulting and certification costs. The funding process is conducted in four steps: project evaluation, renovation housing panel, official application procedure, and final accounting. With this funding, the State of Styria contributes to climate protection, modern infrastructure, and vibrant local centers.
