Description
The program supports corporate research and development projects in Vorarlberg with the aim of regional utilization and also facilitates the transfer of R&D results into industrial production. As a top-up funding, it supplements already granted federal funds by up to 25%, with a high personnel cost share up to 30%, and in special risk or recession situations even up to 75% of the eligible costs. Both classic research and development expenses as well as production setup and ramp-up costs, including pilot series, are funded. The initiative is intended as a means of self-help to stimulate innovation, develop new products, services, and processes, and sustainably strengthen the competitiveness of the regional economy.
Eligible for funding are individual researchers with permanent residence in Vorarlberg, small and medium-sized enterprises with a branch in the federal state, as well as research consortia of companies headquartered in Vorarlberg. A prerequisite is existing federal funding – for example through the Austrian Research Promotion Agency – as well as the submission of the corresponding federal applications, approvals, and agreements. Applications can be submitted continuously; they must be received within one month after federal approval by the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government, Department of General Economic Affairs. This structured process ensures prompt handling, and regional innovation projects receive tailored financial support to be transferred locally into competitive production processes.
