Description
The funding program “Support for Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture” of the State of Lower Saxony focuses on ecological innovation and sustainable growth in the inland water sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises, natural persons, cooperatives, interest groups, as well as educational institutions are supported when planning and implementing their investments, training and further education measures, or research and development projects in accordance with the requirements of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF). In addition to equipment and facility investments, the program also includes compensation payments for the transition to ecological production, consulting services, and environmental measures in carp pond farming. Specific projects aimed at improving animal health, energy efficiency, and climate adaptation are given special consideration and contribute to the preservation of aquatic ecosystems.
The funding rate varies depending on the type and size of the applicants between 10% and 100% of eligible expenses, with minimum investment volumes to be observed. A prerequisite for funding is the business location in Lower Saxony and compliance with the EMFAF program criteria as well as economic viability for commercial projects. The retention periods for construction projects amount to 12 years, and for technical equipment to 5 years. Applications can be submitted continuously, with the Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Saxony acting as the central approval authority. Interested parties can obtain all necessary application documents and guidelines via the download area of the funding database.
