Description
Since 1992, the Brunenbusch-Stein Foundation for the Promotion of Medical Research has been supporting exemplary research projects nationwide in the field of ophthalmology. Educational and public institutions as well as individuals may submit informal applications at any time to receive material grants for projects on macular degeneration, biomarker studies, Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy, or other ophthalmological issues. Doctoral scholarships are also awarded to support young scientists. The foundation provides annual funds of up to €20,000, which can be used for consumables, research infrastructure, and scholarships. Proposed research projects should have a clear model character, possess high relevance to ophthalmology, and be scientifically excellently designed.
By promoting a capable infrastructure as well as innovative approaches, the foundation makes a decisive contribution to strengthening ophthalmological research in Germany. Project teams and doctoral candidates benefit from uncomplicated application procedures without fixed deadlines. In addition to financial support for laboratory setup and equipment, grants can help validate initial research results in pilot studies or develop pioneering concepts for the early detection and treatment of eye diseases. The grant-oriented expertise of the Brunenbusch-Stein Foundation emphasizes the sustainable establishment of groundbreaking research and thus promotes long-term medical progress in the field of ophthalmology.
