Funding of the Bürger:sinn Foundation Münster

The bürger:sinn:stiftung in North Rhine-Westphalia permanently provides social venture capital in the form of grants for non-profit initiatives that do not promise short-term economic success. Funding is provided for both civic projects in Münster and self-help initiatives in Namibia and Uganda. Eligible to apply are non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and private individuals with the appropriate proof of non-profit status. The foundation supports a broad range of topics from development cooperation to environmental and nature conservation, as well as education, research, and regional development. Thanks to ongoing application opportunities, both new and established projects can be submitted at any time.

The focus of the funding is on scientifically justified and methodically carefully planned implementation. Application documents must include a detailed project description, investment and liquidity planning, an implementation roadmap, as well as criteria for success monitoring. Professional legal, tax, and business management concepts are as much a prerequisite as the programmatic alignment with the foundation’s purpose. In the selection process, the jury considers alignment with the guiding objectives of a “dignified, just, democratic, and sustainable society” as well as integration into concrete principles of action, such as self-help or the coordination of non-profit networks.
