Support for the BürgerStiftung Alfeld

Since its founding in 2005, the BürgerStiftung Alfeld has been committed to sustainably promoting the common good in Alfeld and its surrounding areas. As a charitable foundation under civil law, it preserves its capital intact and annually uses the generated income to support nonprofit projects. Eligible for funding are educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other entities based or operating in Alfeld (Leine). The foundation strengthens initiatives in the fields of education, children and youth, social affairs, culture, environmental and nature conservation, vocational training and further education, work & social affairs, culture & media, as well as energy efficiency & climate protection. Funding applications can be submitted continuously, provided that own funds or contributions in kind and proof of nonprofit status are presented. Personnel expenses, material costs, and project-related fees are eligible for funding; retroactive costs and debt repayment are excluded. In the funding decision, relevance to the target group, project sustainability, and strengthening of the community are decisive. Required application documents include a project description, a financing plan, and proof of nonprofit status.

Since its inception, the BürgerStiftung Alfeld has supported around 430 initiatives with over 810,000 euros. Funded projects range from first aid courses, music initiatives for daycare centers and primary schools, to environmental campaigns, as well as playground and schoolyard designs, and social offerings such as the ecumenical lunch table “Tischlein deck dich.” Through this diverse engagement, children, youth, families, seniors, and the entire citizenry in and around Alfeld are actively involved in shaping their living environment. The foundation invites initiatives to submit applications continuously in order to jointly strengthen the regional common good and promote sustainable development locally.
