Description
The Citizens' Foundation for Haan and Gruiten continuously supports charitable projects in North Rhine-Westphalia that strengthen community cohesion and local quality of life. Initiatives and measures are funded across diverse areas including youth, education, science, culture, environmental and animal protection, monument preservation, sports, health, as well as engagement for social cohesion and democracy. The foundation’s goal is to support voluntary commitment, innovation, and sustainable initiatives so that Haan and Gruiten are perceived as livable and future-proof municipalities. Funding amounts up to €1,000 can be approved promptly by the board; grants exceeding this amount are awarded following a resolution by the foundation council.
Eligible to apply are associations, initiatives, companies, and private individuals with their registered office or project location in Haan or Gruiten, whose projects correspond to the foundation’s statutory purposes and are not primarily commercial in nature. Excluded are already completed projects, new construction and building maintenance measures, as well as party-political activities. Selection is based on a high proportion of voluntary work, model character, innovation potential, and sustainability – self-help is especially valued. Applications may be submitted at any time and must include a project description, cost and financing plan, as well as information on own funds and in-kind contributions. Following a positive decision, an appropriate public presentation must be coordinated. With clear guidelines and a transparent procedure, the Citizens' Foundation creates space for creative, inclusive, and future-oriented projects that enrich the social, cultural, and ecological fabric of the region.
