Description
The RL GRW-TGZ has long supported the establishment and expansion of technology and start-up centers in Lower Saxony to strengthen the regional economic structure and promote qualified jobs. Eligible applicants are municipal authorities, legal entities under public law, as well as tax-privileged non-profit organizations that provide infrastructure and services for founders and start-ups. With grants of up to 60 percent (up to 90 percent in cases of special need) of eligible expenses, innovative spaces for research, development, and networking can be created. Up to 5 million euros per investment project are jointly provided by the federal and state governments – higher rates are possible for special structural and transformation projects. The funding aims to initiate cross-border cooperation and accelerate technology transfer in growth sectors.
Funding is provided particularly for planning and ancillary construction costs, construction costs, supplies and services (e.g., initial equipment), as well as acquisition or production of land and fixed assets. A prerequisite is the location or operating site in Lower Saxony, application submission before the start of the measure, proof of significant regional economic effects, and compliance with the GRW criteria regarding the type of activity. The project duration is up to 36 months; grant decisions are made through university-owned or municipal procedures. The Investment and Development Bank of Lower Saxony (NBank) offers comprehensive advice on funding rates, financing concepts, and combination options with de minimis aid. Through tailored funding decisions, sustainable founder ecosystems are created that secure regional value creation and employment in the long term.
