Funding of the European Foundation Kaiserdom of Speyer

The European Kaiserdom Foundation of Speyer supports non-profit organizations, public institutions, and educational establishments in Rhineland-Palatinate with projects related to the historically significant Kaiserdom. Funding is provided for measures aimed at the preservation and securing of the building fabric, barrier-free access, strengthening public relations, as well as scientific research and advisory projects. As a grant provider, it covers construction measures, installation and consulting costs, and research expenses, while ongoing operating costs are not eligible for funding. A continuous application process allows applicants to submit project descriptions, cost and financing plans, proof of non-profit status, and CVs of the project management at any time. A direct project connection to the Kaiserdom and affiliation with a non-profit or public-law sponsoring body are always prerequisites.

The selection is based on professional criteria such as monument relevance, sustainability aspects, and scientific added value. Projects aiming at the long-term protection of the historic monument while simultaneously introducing innovative mediation or research ideas have particularly good chances. The foundation places importance on a balanced combination of structural and cultural impulses as well as networking advisory services. Interested initiatives thus receive targeted financial support to make the impressive cathedral accessible and researchable for future generations.
