Description
Promotion of Forestry in Rhineland-Palatinate – The funding program supports forest owners, companies, and public institutions in Rhineland-Palatinate in the sustainable management and protection of their forests. The focus is primarily on measures for reforestation, natural regeneration, and adaptation to climate change. The program grants subsidies covering 80–90% of eligible costs, including labor, material costs, investments in planting stock, consulting fees, and infrastructure measures. The funding period extends over 10 years, enabling long-term investments and projects to secure ecological diversity and the resilience of forests.
The emphasis is on measures that contribute to stabilizing and further developing forest ecosystems with regard to their biodiversity, recreational function, and protection against extreme weather events. The program targets forest owners who wish to manage their areas sustainably or transition to renewable usage methods. In addition to reforestation through planting, nature-based interventions such as complete cessation of use or light management measures followed by a resting phase are supported to promote light-demanding species. This variety of measures is designed to effectively address challenges posed by climatic changes—such as drought, storms, and heavy rainfall. Great importance is placed on compliance with environmental and forestry guidelines, thereby also strengthening the economic sustainability of the operations.
Applications are submitted through the responsible forestry offices, which provide comprehensive advice and assist in compiling the necessary documents. The application includes the standardized application form, the approval notice, and the proof of use. The project is evaluated based on criteria such as ecological effectiveness, economic efficiency, and sustainable integration into existing forest management plans. With this funding program, applicants receive not only financial support but also valuable incentives for the modernization and adaptation of forestry to current climatic challenges—a decisive contribution to the preservation and expansion of natural habitats in Rhineland-Palatinate.
