Description
The Garchen Foundation is committed nationwide to the preservation and further development of Tibetan Buddhism in teaching and practice. As a non-profit funding organization, it supports authentic study and retreat centers to maintain places for meditation, study, and retreat. In addition, scholarships are awarded to students and researchers in the field of Tibetan Buddhist faith to promote scholarly work as well as deepened practice. Complementing this, the foundation organizes a diverse range of lectures, courses, and multi-day meditation retreats of the Drikung Kagyü tradition, led by renowned teachers. Another central concern is the promotion of text projects: translation and printing initiatives of ancient Tibetan teaching and prayer texts receive financial support to make the cultural heritage permanently accessible and to disseminate the philosophical foundations in the Western world.
The funding opportunities are open to private individuals, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and foundations and can be applied for throughout the year. The Garchen Foundation aims to sustainably strengthen the network of Buddhist communities, internationally active teachers, and academic institutions. Through continuous sponsorship, it contributes to preserving the living tradition of the Drikung Kagyü lineage and actively supports the transmission of compassion and wisdom. Interested applicants find uncomplicated access to the funding criteria and application documents – the initiative offers a stable foundation for projects that contribute in the long term to the continuation and dissemination of Tibetan Buddhist teachings.
