Description

The joint task "Improvement of the Regional Economic Structure" (GRW) in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania supports companies in the commercial sector with investment grants for the creation and safeguarding of permanent jobs. Funding is provided primarily for investments in tangible fixed assets such as buildings, facilities, and machinery, diversification or process innovations, as well as modernizations in the areas of environmental and energy efficiency. Beneficiaries are primarily small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); large enterprises may be considered on a case-by-case basis if special regional economic structural effects are present. The funding rates range depending on location and company size from 15% to 35%, with SMEs in the districts of Northwest Mecklenburg, Ludwigslust-Parchim, Rostock, Mecklenburg Lake District, and Vorpommern-Rügen receiving up to 25%, and in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald up to 35% of eligible costs. In Schwerin and the Hanseatic City of Rostock, grants for small enterprises amount to up to 20%. A prerequisite is the application prior to the start of the project, as well as documentation of the investment costs and the creation or safeguarding of jobs.

The application procedure is conducted through the State Development Institute Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (LFI) using official forms. The application must be accompanied by a detailed project description, a financing plan, business management documents (BWA and annual financial statements of the last three years), as well as evidence of collective wage agreements or of energy and environmental effects. The project implementation period is limited to 36 months, while documentation and job monitoring usually extend over five years. Criteria such as collective bargaining agreements, above-tariff remuneration, R&D activities, or sustainability certifications can increase the grant amount by up to ten percentage points. The decision is made by the LFI after reviewing all funding requirements; there is no legal entitlement. Interested companies can find comprehensive information and individual consultation at the LFI at www.lfi-mv.de.
