Description

Since 1870, the Gitta Kastner Research Foundation has supported the study of medal art of the modern and contemporary periods in the German-speaking region. Funding is particularly provided for projects that systematically document and publish the lives and works of medallists. This includes both the digital and analog recording and publication of all available data on medals and their creators, as well as the maintenance of a continuously updated German-language bibliography. With an ongoing grant application process, the foundation offers researchers, cultural professionals, and research institutions a reliable financial basis for innovative initiatives in the fields of research & innovation, science, culture, digitization, and media.

Eligible for funding are private individuals, educational institutions, non-profit and public organizations with a professional background in numismatics or medal art, whose projects clearly aim at the scientific study of this subject area.
