Support for the Göttingen Cultural Foundation

Since its founding, the Göttingen Cultural Foundation has supported non-profit institutions and initiatives in the arts and cultural sector in the Lower Saxony region. From the proceeds of the foundation’s capital of approximately 880,200 euros (as of December 31, 2024), funding can be awarded annually. In 2024, the funding volume amounted to about 26,700 euros; in the first quarter of 2025, funding applications totaling 11,950 euros have already been approved. Carriers of non-profit cultural and media projects in Göttingen have the opportunity to submit their proposals easily: an informal application with a detailed project description as well as a comprehensive cost and financing plan is required, and the current tax exemption certificate must be provided. Applications must be submitted to the Cultural Department of the City of Göttingen by April 1 or October 1 of each year before the project begins.

Interested organizations benefit from the straightforward funding structure and advice from the Cultural Foundation’s advisory board. Projects in the fields of performing arts, literature, new media, or interdisciplinary cultural work can be eligible for funding, as can festivals, exhibitions, and workshops. The foundation aims to foster a vibrant cultural landscape, emphasizing diversity and participatory approaches. Through continuous grants, new impulses are to be generated and existing initiatives sustainably strengthened.
