Description
The Hans Paul Gessner Foundation supports impact-oriented initiatives for the promotion and rehabilitation of sick children, adolescents, and young adults up to the age of 30 in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region as well as in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate. Carriers of non-profit organizations, foundations, educational institutions, or public institutions can apply for grants for projects that, in addition to medical measures, also focus on strengthening affected families and promoting research and prevention in the fields of pediatrics, oncology, and rehabilitation. Independent, self-contained projects with a wide reach or leverage effect that are explicitly characterized by clear involvement of families are funded. Applications can be submitted informally by email throughout the year; a non-binding preliminary inquiry is expressly welcomed.
For funding, valid non-profit status, a tax exemption certificate pursuant to §§ 52 or 53 AO, as well as a purposeful concept for public relations, evaluation, and sustainability are prerequisites. Grants are generally awarded for up to 36 months, with degressive financing possible. Non-fundable items include ongoing operating costs, institutional basic financing, loans, credits, permanent or follow-up financing, scholarships, foreign and development projects, as well as political or religious purposes. The foundation makes decisions taking into account the available funds and funding principles. A prompt response is usually given within 14 days; applicants receive a joint funding agreement after positive review.
