Description

Promotion of Municipal Crime Prevention (RL KommPräv) supports municipal authorities in Saxony in establishing preventive structures and implementing crime prevention projects. The goal is to prevent criminal offenses as well as to strengthen public safety and order. The funding rate amounts to up to 90% of eligible expenses; the remaining own funds are provided by the municipality. A prerequisite for submitting an application is individual consultation through the office of the State Prevention Council. Eligible for funding are all public institutions at the municipal level, including their own enterprises. Applications can be submitted annually between August 31 and October 15 for the following fiscal year.

Particularly supported are measures derived from the analysis of the local crime situation, that strengthen networks between stakeholders and enable evaluation. Requested project topics range from educational and awareness programs to innovative monitoring systems. For approval, the following documents are required: the completed application form, a detailed project description according to Beccaria standards, a detailed cost and financing plan, as well as proof of the professional qualifications of the staff involved. The responsible authority reviews the submitted documents and communicates the result in writing. This guideline provides municipalities with a reliable basis to establish sustainable crime prevention structures locally and to improve the quality of life in the communities.
