Description
The program "Promotion of Cultural Education (FRL Cultural Education)" of the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism strengthens extracurricular educational offerings throughout Saxony. Funding is provided particularly to music schools, youth art schools, network offices of cultural regions, as well as statewide significant projects that impart artistic and cultural competencies to children and young people. Eligible to apply are legal entities under public law, non-profit private sponsors, and associations based in the Free State of Saxony. With an annual total volume of approximately €9.5 to 9.8 million, the program targets institutions that implement instrumental and vocal instruction, visual and performing arts, or media education offerings, thereby creating opportunities for creative participation. The duration of the funded measures is generally 12 months.
Financed, among other things, are personnel costs for permanently employed and fee-based teaching staff, expenses for quality assurance, as well as material-related expenses within the framework of the measure. Grants of up to €35,000 are possible per individual project. For music schools, the application deadlines are November 30 (personnel expenses/quality assurance) and June 30 (talent promotion), for youth art schools August 31, and for network offices as well as statewide projects October 15 of each year. Prerequisites for approval include, among others, a balanced financing plan, a meaningful project description, sample course summaries, proof of non-profit status, an excerpt from the register, and the current statutes or articles of association. The program aims to consolidate cultural education structures, enable innovative cooperations, and promote equal participation in cultural life in both urban and rural areas.
