Description

The Cologne Cathedral Cultural Foundation continuously supports non-profit cultural and preservation projects in North Rhine-Westphalia that have a direct connection to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Eligible to apply are non-profit organizations, educational institutions, public bodies, as well as companies aiming to realize exhibitions, restorations of medieval windows, scientific research, publications on accessibility, or music and inclusion projects. Targeted grants support, among other things, the construction of a new organ, the restoration of 15th-century stained glass windows, the printing of cathedral guides in plain language, as well as interdisciplinary research series on the Old Cathedral. Selection is based on the funding criteria “project relevance to Cologne Cathedral” and “cultural or research relevance.” Since there are continuous application deadlines, innovative ideas can be submitted and reviewed at any time.

Project leaders receive not only financial resources but also benefit from the expertise of experienced specialist committees that consolidate design, monument protection, and media education issues. Artists, cultural workers, and scholars can realize their concepts through the Foundation’s support and make a visible contribution to the preservation and communication of Cologne Cathedral. Examples of successfully funded projects include multimedia exhibitions, organ concerts, or the development of inclusive guided tours. With this, the Cultural Foundation aims to promote a lively dialogue between monument preservation, research, and the public and invites interested parties to submit their project ideas and collaboratively work on the future vitality of this outstanding architectural monument.
