Description
The Kurt and Hildegard Löwenstein/Losten Foundation supports projects nationwide that exemplary address the culture and history of Jewish Germans as well as international understanding. The focus is on educational, scientific, and research initiatives that primarily engage young people and schools. Funding is provided to non-profit organizations, educational institutions, associations, initiatives, and private individuals, as well as start-ups working on topics in the fields of culture, research & innovation, vocational and further education, or commitment to social cohesion and democracy. Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis and are granted as a one-time subsidy within the framework of a non-binding selection process.
Projects with particularly high relevance to Jewish history and culture, strong impact, exemplary character, and a clear connection to international understanding are supported. The application requires a detailed project description, a financing plan, and CVs of the project leaders. Evaluation criteria include the significance of the topic, the sustainable impact on target groups, and exemplary implementation. The Foundation supports both educational information offerings and research projects aimed at preserving the Jewish cultural heritage in former German territories east of the Oder and Neisse rivers. In doing so, it contributes to the culture of remembrance, intercultural dialogue, and the promotion of young talent in both the scientific and cultural fields.
