Description

The promotion of literature supports non-commercial literary institutions based in the city and countryside of Salzburg through annual grants for ongoing operations and event programs. Additionally, project funding is awarded for festivals, reading series, initiatives, and professional interest groups. Special emphasis is placed on youth work, the development of interdisciplinary formats, and innovative mediation approaches. Carriers of non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, and educational institutions can apply for financial resources to ensure sustainable and high-quality literary work in both urban and rural regions. A detailed concept, a balanced financial plan, as well as evidence of professionalism and long-term impact are prerequisites for a successful application. Concurrent annual and project funding is excluded to ensure a fair distribution of funds.

Submissions for annual funding are possible annually until the end of June at the latest; project applications can be submitted at any time before the project begins. Selection is based on criteria such as program quality, conceptual innovation, regional reach, and support of emerging talent. Professional implementation, transparent budgeting, and sustainable impact form the basis for a funding commitment. Outstanding projects in rural areas and interdisciplinary cooperations receive special consideration. Applicant institutions must submit a register of associations or commercial register excerpt and statutes upon first submission; for subsequent applications, updated program materials and financial plans suffice. The goal is to strengthen Salzburg’s literary diversity, promote exchange among stakeholders, and open up new audience segments.
