Description

The Lumen Gentium – Foundation of German Catholics continuously awards grants for projects that integrate Christian values into social, political, and European decision-making processes. Eligible for funding are private individuals, companies, as well as non-profit organizations nationwide. Particular support is given to initiatives for evangelization and the strengthening of the Catholic lay apostolate that advance dialogue between Church and world – for example, at Catholic Days, in Europe, and in school-based or extracurricular training and further education formats for children and youth. The open submission of applications allows for flexible project planning, while the funding requirement presupposes a clear connection to evangelization or lay strengthening in the sense of the foundation.

The funding objective targets responsible Christians, especially youth and young adults, who wish to engage politically and socially and make their voices heard in dialogue processes. Projects are evaluated based on their potential for dialogue between Church and world, the involvement of young people, and their thematic focus on social cohesion and democracy. The grants support both innovative events and long-term networks of European Catholics. Through this offering, the foundation contributes to ensuring that participants are not only sensitized but also qualified to introduce Christian values as guiding principles into a pluralistic society and to sustainably strengthen the autonomy of the lay apostolate.
