Description

The Marco Rugieri Foundation is committed nationwide to promoting science and care in the field of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In particular, it supports non-profit research institutions and educational establishments in projects aimed at elucidating disease mechanisms as well as developing new therapeutic approaches. Furthermore, projects related to the care and support of ALS patients are financially supported. These include, among others, research commissions, scholarships, and the organization and publication of scientific conferences. A medical advisory board oversees the allocation of funds and ensures that the selected projects possess the highest scientific relevance and concretely contribute to improving patient care.

Only non-profit organizations and educational institutions dedicated to the research, treatment, or care of ALS patients are eligible for funding. Applications can be submitted at any time without restriction. Key evaluation criteria are the scientific relevance of the project and a positive recommendation from the medical advisory board. Funding is provided in the form of grants, which are used to finance research projects, scholarships, and professional events. Through this continuous support, insights are intended to be accelerated, treatment quality improved, and, in the long term, new cures for ALS patients realized. Interested institutions are encouraged to present their projects with detailed applications and thus contribute to the advancement of ALS research and care.
