Description
The Marga and Walter Boll Foundation supports nonprofit organizations, public institutions, educational providers, and foundations nationwide in the needs-based funding of basic and applied research. The focus is on projects from the technical sciences, economic and social sciences, biological and natural sciences, as well as medical and health research (including pediatrics). Funding is provided in the form of non-repayable grants to finance personnel, material and equipment costs, fees, service and travel expenses, event costs, and publication expenses. Selection is based on alignment with the foundation’s objectives, the professional competence of the project partners, and evaluations by independent experts. Informal applications may be submitted at any time.
A prerequisite for funding is recognition as a legal entity under private or public law with a current tax exemption certificate, as well as proof that all public funding opportunities have been exhausted and own contributions have been made. A detailed project plan with timeline and milestone scheduling, financing overview, qualification certificates, and the applicable statutes must be attached. Processing is conducted promptly and transparently, with the foundation aiming for a collaborative partnership. Final reports and accounting of funds must be submitted in accordance with the approval conditions. This continuous funding opportunity sustainably strengthens forward-looking research approaches and contributes to scientific excellence in Germany.
