Description

The Margarethe-von-Witzleben Community Foundation supports non-profit organizations, educational institutions, public institutions, project groups, and committed private individuals nationwide who advocate for the quality of life of hard of hearing and deaf people. Grants are awarded to projects in the areas of self-help, barrier-free communication, counseling, public relations, education, culture, and research & innovation. Since the first project in 2003, the installation of a commemorative plaque on the 150th birthday of the foundation’s namesake, regular funding has been provided, for example, to the German Hard of Hearing Association, the Hörmobil tour, and pilot projects such as training for speech-to-text interpreters. The goal is the sustainable improvement of social participation and the strengthening of democratic coexistence of hard of hearing and deaf citizens in Germany.

Interested applicants must demonstrate a focus on a tangible improvement in the living conditions of people with hearing impairments and – in the case of institutions – provide proof of non-profit status. Informal applications can be submitted at any time via the foundation board’s contact form. Support can cover both individual projects and long-term program series. Funding is provided, among other things, for training and further education initiatives, commitment to social cohesion, cultural and media education initiatives, as well as research on hearing impairment. The uncomplicated application process without fixed deadlines enables flexible planning and rapid implementation of measures for the benefit of people with hearing impairments.
