Description

With the Program for the Promotion of Sustainable Village Development in Saarland (FRL-DE-ELER), the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Mobility, Agriculture and Consumer Protection supports innovative approaches for the sustainable further development of rural communities in Saarland. Funding is provided, among other things, for the creation of comprehensive village development concepts, the repurposing and careful expansion of village building fabric for community facilities, measures to preserve the architectural and cultural heritage, as well as initiatives to improve village ecological structures. Projects aimed at creating small public cultural, recreational, and tourism infrastructure, as well as actions to revive regional traditions, are also considered and make an important contribution to strengthening local cohesion.

Eligible applicants are local authorities and their associations, church congregations as public law corporations, natural and legal persons under private law, partnerships under the Land Consolidation Act, as well as water and soil associations. The prerequisite is that the project is carried out in the rural area of Saarland according to SEPL 2014–2020 and that the start is only after approval. Services already financed through village renewal funds are not eligible for funding. The grant rate varies between 35% and 75% depending on the applicant. Applications must be submitted annually to the Ministry by March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 15. Combining this program with other funding programs is possible, provided that the individual measures do not overlap in content.
