Description
Funding Guidelines for Local Mobility – FöRi-Nah support cities, municipalities, districts, and companies with majority municipal ownership in North Rhine-Westphalia in investments and planning to strengthen bicycle and pedestrian traffic. Eligible to apply are public institutions, municipal associations or clubs, as well as member municipalities of the AGFS NRW. The program aims to create environmentally friendly, safe, and user-oriented mobility options locally, to shift motorized individual traffic, and to increase the participation of mobility-impaired persons. Furthermore, local mobility concepts and informational measures are intended to raise awareness and ensure close integration with public local transport.
Funding is provided for investments in bicycle traffic facilities, pedestrian traffic facilities, bicycle parking facilities, service and rest areas, as well as condition assessments and modal split surveys. The development of local mobility concepts and public relations measures are also eligible for funding. The grant is provided as a non-repayable subsidy, with the funding rate depending on the measure ranging between 50% and 75%. A minimum own contribution of 10% of the eligible expenses is required, as well as compliance with recognized technical standards, construction and planning maturity, secured building rights, and land acquisition. Registration for inclusion in the annual program must be submitted by May 31 of the year preceding the start of the measure. Approval and detailed review are carried out by the respective district government, which coordinates the process as a link between the state and municipalities and supports timely implementation.
