Description

The NÖ Baukultur funding supports Lower Austrian municipalities and municipal associations in preserving architecturally and historically valuable assets as well as old town areas. The focus is on planning instruments and quality-promoting procedures such as the establishment of protection zones in accordance with § 30 of the Lower Austrian Spatial Planning Act 2014, the development of zoning plans, and the implementation of idea or realization competitions according to the Architectural Competition Regulations (WOA). The grants are continuously available and can be applied for until the completion of the respective procedure. The aim is to strengthen the cultural heritage in town centers, link urban design and monument protection, and promote innovative concepts through architectural competitions.

A prerequisite for approval is a municipal council resolution on the planned procedure as well as proof of financial need, supported by cost estimates and a detailed financing plan. Additionally, plan representations and an investment report must be submitted. The funding application can be submitted free of charge from August 6, 2024. Upon successful completion, the General Building Services Department of the State of Lower Austria will review all documents, and the grants will be disbursed upon proof of proper use in accordance with the designated purpose. This program offers municipal administrations an attractive opportunity to sustainably and resource-efficiently secure urban planning quality.
