Funding objective

Promotion of comprehensive care for animal stocks in the federal state of Salzburg as well as the breeding development of various animal species (studbooks), recording of breeding data, consulting and training of herdbook farms in operational and quality management, organization and execution of fairs, competitions, and exhibitions in accordance with EU regulations, and improvement of sustainability through fitness traits.

  • Submission of a breeding and work program at the time of application
  • Funded measure must benefit the entire animal breeding sector in the state of Salzburg

Description

The funding for quality improvement in animal breeding in the federal state of Salzburg supports comprehensive care and breeding development of various animal species. The aim is the systematic recording of breeding data in the recognized herd books, the consulting and training of herd book farms in operational and quality management, as well as the organization of fairs, competitions, and exhibitions in accordance with Article 24(4) of Regulation (EU) 702/2014. Furthermore, measures to increase sustainability through fitness traits are promoted. Material services are funded with a subsidy of up to 70% of the eligible costs; the funds are applied for annually at the beginning of the year or before the start of the respective measure.

Eligible for funding are natural and legal persons as well as interest groups, associations, and non-profit organizations within the meaning of Annex I Article 2 of Regulation (EU) 702/2014, excluding undertakings in difficulty as well as territorial authorities and their institutions. Compliance with the Salzburg Animal Breeding Act in its current version and the submission of a breeding and work program at the time of application are prerequisites. The funded activities must benefit the entire federal state of Salzburg. Applications are submitted using the form according to Article 6 of the aforementioned EU regulation; additionally, the breeding and work program must be enclosed. The funding process is managed by the Office of the Salzburg State Government. Through this support, the program makes an important contribution to securing high-quality standards in Salzburg agriculture and to the sustainable development of animal breeding.
