Description

The Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Areas provides a forward-looking funding instrument with the promotion of regional development – regional management and regional budget – which supports existing and permanently established regional management companies in Hessian subregions. With a focus on regional promotion, agriculture, and rural development, innovative projects are to be supported that mobilize regional innovation, growth, and employment potentials. Eligible are projects that implement integrated regional innovation and development concepts, advance the establishment of regional networks and alliances, and initiate regional consensus-building processes. In addition, innovation-oriented individual projects that contribute to the Hessian innovation strategy – particularly through the promotion of resource-efficient production processes, circular economy, and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions – can be supported.

Within the framework of the funding program, companies are granted a subsidy covering up to 50 percent of eligible expenses, for example, personnel costs and material expenses. Regional management companies have the opportunity to apply for a regional budget of up to €130,000 per year. This financial support enables the funded institutions to sustainably shape their regional development strategies and establish a comprehensive network of partners that consolidates regional strengths and unlocks hidden potentials. The program emphasizes the objective not only to advance innovative concepts but also to open up a long-term perspective for the regional economy and to profile the location of Hesse as a strong innovation and competitive hub.

The grant is subject to specific requirements, including that applications must be submitted to the Wirtschafts- und Infrastrukturbank Hessen (WIBank) before the start of the project. Only already existing and permanent regional management companies are eligible for this funding, with the funding framework specifically targeting measures in the priority areas of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Direct funding of individual commercial enterprises is explicitly excluded to ensure targeted and sustainable regional development. This funding instrument not only provides financial resources but also supports strategic planning and structural networking, ultimately contributing to a comprehensive strengthening of the regional economic system in Hesse.
