Description

The Rudolf Augstein Foundation continuously awards grants nationwide to non-profit organizations engaged in the fields of children and youth, social affairs, as well as work & social issues. The goal is to improve the life prospects of disadvantaged children and young people by strengthening health, education, and self-help capabilities. Projects with a model character that create sustainable structures and actively involve those affected in their development are supported. Special emphasis is placed on promoting participatory approaches and the empowerment of girls and young women—regardless of origin, gender, or personal limitations. Priority is also given to services for terminally ill children as well as projects supporting children living in extreme poverty. Applications can be submitted at any time without fixed deadlines, allowing initiatives to access funding flexibly and promptly.

Non-profit organizations whose projects target disadvantaged or needy children and youth are eligible for funding. Applicants must provide proof of their non-profit status and submit a fully completed application form including a detailed project description, information about the participants, and a cost and financing plan. Grants are awarded flexibly depending on the project scope, with no fixed upper limit in the social sector. Selection is based on clearly defined criteria such as significance for child welfare, effectiveness, sustainability, transferability, model character, and the expertise of the applicants. A particular criterion is the participatory involvement of those affected and the promotion of gender equality. The Foundation generally makes decisions within twelve weeks of receiving the documents. Further information on the requirements and the exact application process can be found on the Rudolf Augstein Foundation’s website.
