Description

In Thuringia, the "Promotion of Social Counseling and Support for Recognized Refugees" represents a continuously available grant program that assists municipalities in integrating newly arrived migrants into the host society. Under the sponsorship of the Thuringian Ministry for Migration, Justice and Consumer Protection (TMMJV) and professional implementation by the Thuringian State Administration Office (TLVwA), up to 80% of eligible expenses can be reimbursed. The funding focus includes migration-specific counseling on fundamental life issues, assistance in accessing authorities, healthcare, and educational institutions, as well as support in conflict resolution and situations of violence. Additionally, fees for interpreters, training, as well as material and administrative costs are covered to ensure needs-based support services in the areas of social affairs, migration, health, and labor & social services.

Eligible for funding are exclusively Thuringian districts and independent cities that independently or cooperatively provide migration-specific counseling and support services, whose financing is not already covered by federal, state, or third-party funds. Implementation takes place through projects with a maximum duration of 12 months. Application prerequisites include proof of professional qualifications of social workers or social educators, including relevant foreign language skills, knowledge of foreigner, asylum, and residence law, as well as pedagogical and intercultural competencies. For application, the guideline, the form "Social Counseling for Refugees," and the VZM form for the respective funding year must be submitted to the TLVwA. The application deadline is October 31 each year for the following fiscal year, providing municipalities the opportunity to sustainably expand their integration-promoting measures.
