The Sparkassen Foundation Schleswig-Holstein is committed to the sustainable promotion of non-profit cultural, artistic, and monument preservation projects and supports initiatives throughout the entire federal state. Funding is provided to initiatives from recognized non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, foundations, as well as private individuals with residence or business premises in Schleswig-Holstein. The focus areas include culture, media, music, building and monument protection, as well as infrastructure and urban development. The grant program aims to realize projects with high-quality standards and societal relevance that have a tangible impact and contribute to the cultural diversity of the region. If necessary, the foundation acts both on its own initiative and upon application in trusting cooperation with regional Sparkassen foundations. The selected projects should have a strong connection to the state’s history and the local community.
For an application, the submission of an informal funding request is required, accompanied by a current tax exemption certificate from the tax office, a project description including a cost and financing plan, as well as a confirmation of acknowledgment of the valid funding guidelines. Eligible expenses include, for example, event costs in the arts and cultural sectors, expenses for publications, acquisition and preservation of art objects, scholarships and awards, as well as measures for the preservation and restoration of monuments protected under state law. Appropriate own funds are expected; coverage of general ongoing costs, purely scientific projects, and film projects are excluded. The Sparkassen Foundation evaluates applications based on criteria such as project quality, regional relevance to Schleswig-Holstein, and compliance with the funding guidelines. Applications can be submitted at any time, providing committed actors the opportunity to effectively strengthen regional cultural heritage.
