Description

Since 1999, the Sparkasse Märkisch-Oderland Foundation has been supporting non-profit projects in the fields of art, culture, sports, as well as the promotion of children and youth in the Märkisch-Oderland district. Projects are supported that aim to sustainably enrich the cultural and social life in the region. Funding is provided in the form of grants ranging from 500.00 euros to 2,500.00 euros. Eligible applicants include both natural persons and non-profit organizations, provided they can demonstrate a residence or business location in the district and—in the case of legal entities—proof of non-profit status is submitted.

The initiative is aimed at committed actors who wish to implement innovative and impactful projects in the cultural, sporting, or social sectors. In addition to alignment with the foundation’s purpose, the presence of own funds is required to ensure sustainable project implementation. Applications must be submitted using a specific form, accompanied by a detailed project description, a cost and financing plan, as well as a current certificate of tax exemption. It is transparently clarified that ongoing personnel and material costs as well as expenses for building maintenance (except for monument preservation measures) are not eligible for funding.

With its funding, the foundation supports a variety of measures that contribute to the preservation and development of regional life. This includes, among others, cultural events, exhibitions, sports competitions, and activities in children’s and youth facilities. Applications can be submitted by March 31 or August 31, 2025, so that the board of trustees can decide on the funding in the spring and autumn sessions respectively. Interested project sponsors who wish to make a sustainable contribution in the areas of art, culture, sports, as well as child and youth promotion will find an attractive opportunity in this program to realize their projects and actively support the development of the region.
