Description
The German Albert Schweitzer Center Foundation continuously supports projects that keep the intellectual legacy of Albert Schweitzer and his ethic of Reverence for Life alive in science, culture, and education. Non-profit organizations, educational institutions, public bodies, and committed private individuals from across Germany can apply for grants for lectures, seminars, publications, school and extracurricular educational initiatives, as well as public outreach activities. Projects with a high scientific or cultural value that contribute to the sustainable establishment of ethical educational offerings and deepen the understanding of Schweitzer’s cultural philosophy are supported.
A prerequisite for funding is a project aligned with Albert Schweitzer’s ethic that serves a non-profit or public purpose, as well as the submission of an application to the board of the DASZ Foundation. The ongoing funding opportunity allows flexible planning for both individuals and initiatives from the fields of education, science, media, and social cohesion. Selection criteria focus on the suitability for disseminating Schweitzer’s legacy, the quality of the educational formats, and the long-term impact. Through financial support, a multi-perspective engagement with Schweitzer’s approach is fostered, which is understood as a bridge between humanitarian responsibility and artistic, scientific action.
