Description
The German Deafblind Foundation supports long-term innovative and life-enhancing measures for people with combined hearing and vision impairments and deafblindness whose needs go beyond the services provided by public agencies. This includes, in particular, technical aids, specialized communication services, and individual grants that help compensate sensory deficits and reduce barriers. The funding covers the areas of social affairs, health, work & social services, as well as research & innovation, aiming to strengthen children, adolescents, and adults with hearing and vision impairments and deafblindness in their social participation and professional integration. Non-profit organizations such as the German Deafblind Foundation gGmbH are also significantly supported in their daily work to build bridges to the environment and overcome isolation.
Eligible for funding are both non-profit organizations and private individuals with documented combined hearing and vision impairments or deafblindness residing in Germany. Applications may be submitted at any time; there are no fixed deadlines. To apply, proof of impairment, a meaningful application letter, and detailed cost estimates are required. Projects and applications are selected based on their sustainable impact, clear relevance to the target group, and full alignment with the Foundation’s purpose. Grants are awarded as subsidies and can be applied for informally through the Foundation. In this way, the German Deafblind Foundation opens up new perspectives for people with combined hearing and vision impairments and deafblindness and makes a valuable contribution to inclusion and quality of life.
