Description

The Foundation for Sustainable Food Production supports research projects nationwide focused on the sustainable use of plant products. Grants are awarded to projects that further develop established methods for extracting plant constituents and apply them to previously untapped plant species. Particular emphasis is placed on the design of compact extraction technology systems, such as modular units like shipping containers, to enable efficient and resource-conserving production even under varying conditions. Eligible for funding are educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and companies active in the fields of research & innovation, science, environmental/nature conservation, as well as energy efficiency & climate protection.

The funding is characterized by unconditional application submission without a fixed deadline – submissions are accepted at any time. The program specifically targets universities, research institutions, non-profit initiatives, and for-profit enterprises dedicated to the development and optimization of methods for extracting plant constituents. The goal is to establish novel extraction processes that combine ecological and economic benefits while also contributing to strengthening local value creation in structurally weak regions. By supporting small to medium-sized plant systems, a decentralized production infrastructure is intended to be created that addresses global challenges in climate protection and sustainable food security.
