Description
The Foundation for Technology, Innovation and Research Thuringia (STIFT) provides Thuringian companies, universities, research institutions, as well as non-profit and public educational providers with permanently non-repayable grants, low-interest loans, and guarantees. Funded are technology- and innovation-driven projects in research & innovation, STEM education, vocational and further training, business start-ups, as well as consulting and business financing. Eligible to apply are institutions and organizations of any legal form that carry out their projects in the state of Thuringia or achieve a significant benefit for the region. A personal contribution as well as proof of alternative financing sources are required. The funding rate varies depending on the funding category between 65% and 90% of eligible expenses such as personnel and material costs, travel and patenting costs, external services, and other operating resources.
The decision is based on the degree of innovation, novelty, economic viability, plausibility, level of cooperation between companies and research institutions, as well as the projected exploitation potential. The application requires a detailed project description with objectives, information on project management, schedule and expenditure plan, a complete financing plan including proof of residual financing, and a list of already received de minimis aid. STIFT primarily supports projects that are not covered by public programs and complements existing funding instruments. Applications can be submitted continuously to steadily strengthen the innovative capacity in Thuringia through sustainable networking of science and industry.
