Description
The Gemeinde im Aufbruch Foundation supports public institutions in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate that are dedicated to the spiritual and organizational development within the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau (EKHN). Through grants for projects in the areas of education, counseling, engagement for social cohesion and democracy, training and further education, as well as work and social affairs, the foundation assists congregations, neighborhood spaces, deaneries, and supra-congregational initiatives. Funding is primarily provided for fees of external speakers, costs for external experts, and training expenses for leaders or multipliers. Projects focusing on sustainable diaconal, missionary, or congregational initiatives are given preference if they provide relevant impulses for spiritual development and involve multipliers. Own contributions must be demonstrated to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the projects.
Informal applications can be submitted by May 15 and October 15 of each year. A complete application includes a project description with objectives, target groups, and a timeline, as well as a financing plan showing the required own contribution. Non-fundable expenses include material costs such as instruments, promotional materials, or furniture, own personnel costs, and travel expenses of the applicants. The decision of the board of trustees is based on the relevance to the spiritual orientation, the sustainability focus, and the involvement of multipliers. The funding supports congregations in realizing creative worship concepts, faith courses, or diaconal projects and integrating them sustainably into local structures.
