Description
The "Kirche im Dorf" Foundation supports church projects in rural communities of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia (EKBO) with uncomplicated grants. Funded are initiatives that strengthen the Christian faith in modern forms of expression, accompany volunteers, introduce children and youth to religious topics, as well as promote church music and art-related initiatives. Eligible to apply are non-profit congregations, organizations, institutions, and associations in Berlin, Brandenburg, and Saxony. Selection is based on meaningful integration into congregational work, an appropriate share of own funds, and the innovative content in the expression of faith.
For the application, a completed application for funding, a current tax exemption certificate, and a detailed cost and financing plan are required, showing the own contribution as well as the requested grant amount. Eligible expenses include materials, printed matter, internet presence, travel costs, personnel, and other project-related items – ongoing congregational costs such as rent or personnel are excluded. Applications can be submitted four times a year, by January 23 (for projects starting March 1), April 30 (from June 7), and August 27 (from October 1). After a positive decision, the foundation makes a payment upon proof and usually concludes funding after two project phases. With this funding offer, the "Kirche im Dorf" Foundation aims to invigorate spiritual life in its region and establish sustainable faith-based programs.
